I will miss New York as well!!!! Especially your writing-circle.

Btw: is it just me or was the video-quality of this video pretty darn bad? I loved the video, but the big blocks kinda annoyed me (yes I’m an antfucker)

The video quality is awful, and I don’t know why. I condensed it the same way I always do; maybe youtube changed. I’m trying something else now.

suggestion to the admins- maybe you should imbed a “buy this song on itunes” button in this entry? I know I want to buy it (maybe the whole album, actually), and if you have a button 5% of all proceeds go to you- or, in this case, to decreasing worldsuck!

Just an idea. Great video John- and nice t-shirt! It’s lucky I didn’t see this two weeks ago, it would have made me weep. Today, just wistful, no tears. I hope Indianapolis treats you and the Yeti right!

I am leaving Boston, where I have lived for nine years, this fall — your video gave me a serious case of premature nostalgia. And made me want to list all the walks I will miss. There will be many.

Good luck with the move, you two.

um..did anyone* see the video that I made with Computer NerdFighter Hannah of a lot of NerdFighters saying hi to John? it also has a miniature llama in it.

*by anyone, I mean John. Because he’s the only one we sent it to. I’m asking because it might have screwed up and not gotten sent, or the video might have spontaneously combusted (or whatever videos do when they don’t work).

John, your video made me glad that I’m going to be in NYC for a bit longer. But I was very unhappy that you said you were only going to miss your friends…what about your family living in New York? Your not going to miss us? Hi everyone…I’m John’s forgotten cousin.

Moving’s tough. There’s something about it that’s really emotional, even if you’re looking forward to the next chapter in life.

2007-06-18 23:17:39

John, that was like a Blair With Project of sadness. And I dont know if there have been previous uses of Mountain Goats songs on B2.0, but if not, I knew it was just a matter of time. You and Hank WREAK (sp?) of Mountain Goats love.

I am leaving Germany in 38 days. I know I haven’t lived here forever, but it’s similarly weird. Change in general harbors a kind of undeniable weirdness that is both depressing and exciting at once.

Travel safe, and may you and the Yeti have many lovely memories (and new exciting walks) in Indianapolis…and maybe part 1 of the Green Family luge team.

why does it say “you can skip to the end and leave a response. pinging is currently not allowed” by the date? and whats pinging?

Comment by Malcolm Tredinnick
2007-06-19 00:08:27

kasia,

“Pinging” (a.k.a pingback) is a way for one blog to let another blog — and this is a blog system underneath the covers — know that a related post was written. So rather than posting a comment, somebody could write a blog post and then their system might ping the article it was talking about and the blog post would show up in the comments (as an extract) of the first article.

However, since it’s not enabled here, it’s a bit more of a confusing factor than useful (since ping-enabled systems have to handle failure in any case).

Comment by kasia
2007-06-19 03:28:35

lol thanks…i was totally lost after “pinging is a way for one blog to let another blog…..” then i kinda trailed off. but thanks for trying to explain it to me. :]

I left Los Angeles where I lived my whole life and moved to Tampa with my wife, bought our first house and became a writer for real. That was four years ago and I am happy we did it. While I miss the big city, we would have never been able to afford this fantastic house, have a child who goes to school in the country, been able to afford giving up a high paying job to write fulltime and start my wife’s new career as a professor of sociology. There is much you’ll miss, but much, much more you will discover. You will remember what it is like to be a real person, not a creative in a town where you can throw a rock in any direction and hit another writer, actor, director, designer. You will be unique. You will have a life. You will have a house to call your own. And maybe start a family.

And you will be happier for it.

I am working my way through the videos (backwards, for some reason) and wanted to comment on this one in particular. The song… love it! Can’t wait to put it on my iPod so I can play it as I make some of my favorite walks. Also, the walk itself… priceless! Even though you’ve been in Indiana for like a month and a half now, John, your videos of New York make me actually want to visit there… and that’s saying something! I’ve never wanted to visit NY before. Not even the parts of the state that are full of people. But I’d like to take that same walk. It was beautiful.

It was then that she decided to spend many of her coming days in New York City….

Sometimes I narrate my life. Have you ever done that? No? Oh well.

I’ve been to NYC 4 times? 5 times? 6 times? Obviously I’ve lost count. My first foray into NYC’s summer was about a month after you posted this, and the city in July was beautiful. This vlog made me think a lot about my days there: the people I met and everything I did and saw. I liked it a lot in the winter, too. Cold is my element. It seems like a great place to live; maybe in a couple years I’ll join the club.
